	American Academy in Rome, January 2002 Conference The conference will explore Oliver Strunk's unique contributions to the history of music, especially in the fields of Byzantine and Medieval chant and polyphony, musical paleography, Renaissance music, and history of opera. Participants will include many of Strunk's original students, now teaching at prestigious American universities, as well as eminent musicologists from Italy, Germany and Denmark.
